Carnival: The funniest party around the world!

                Carnival is the most popular parties in Brazil. We, Brazilians, tend to say that "the year doesn't REALLY start until after carnival"!

             It’s a very important period of our calendar, and we have a full week to celebrate and rest (at least for most of us, because some people go back to their jobs on Wednesday). This year Carnival is going to be starting on 02/28. 

But you might be wondering right now: What is carnaval? What kind of party is it and What do people do?

Well, my dears, carnival is possibility one of the most fun & funniest party in the world! People buy costumes, dress up and go out celebrating. 

              In Rio, for example, we have two kinds of parties: one on the street, that we call “Blocos de Rua":

                                                                      Fun, fun, fun!!

On the “Blocos” we have trios elétricos, with a looooooooot of music. GOOD MUSIC, people. You.just.can’t.stand.still. It’s impossible!!

      And the other famous party in Rio is on the “Sapucaí: 

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

Every year a lot of famous people around the world come to Brazil to enjoy this magical party:

Jennifer Lopez

Madonna

Megan Fox and Rodrigo Santoro

On the Sapucaí, people watch the Samba schools passing through the avenue, and, it’s magical!! So many beautiful clothes, a lot of vibrancy, everything is so glorious!

 And the women, that are in the parade, have bodies that make us want to cry and run to the gym fast!!!! lol

WHERE IS THE NEAREST GYM?!!!!

There are, in other cities of Brazil, differents kinds of Carnival, like in Bahia, Olinda, etc...
   The one in Bahia is absolutely funny!!!! People go crazy!! Singers sing for a thousands of people on the street:

Ivete Sangalo is one of the most popular singer in Brazil! She is a great entertainer!!!

Those cars/trucks are called "Trio Elétrico":

Look at the number of people!!!

Doesn't Carnival sound like an amazing party??

  You know what they say, right? You only live once, and you can't live a life that's full if you've never been in Brazil on Carnival at least once in your life!

Our Favorite Romance Movies

In honor of the fast approaching Valentines Day, we decided to list our all-time favorite romantic movies! Hopefully it'll be of some use for those of you wanting to watch a little bit of romance with your loved ones; or if you're single - you should still watch and dream! :D

1. Pride & Prejudice
It wouldn't be a proper list unless this movie was on it. Whichever version you watch it'll be perfect! The initial love-hate relationship between Lizzy and Darcy is just delicious and I guarantee you'll enjoy every but of it.

2. Safe Haven
Yes, this is an adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks' novel. If you do not like his typical novels/books, I will beg you to at least give this one a try! There's a BIG twist in the end!

3. The Lake House
This movie had my undivided attention for the entirety of it. And then I made my friends watch it too, right after I was done; because the movie was just THAT good!

4. You've Got Mail
If you haven't yet seen this movie, I recommend you see it right away. Everything about it is so sweet, I have watched it hundreds of times and I'm still not bored with it. Quirky and funny.

5. The Notebook
Of course this had to be in the list.. Was it obvious it'd be on the list? YES. So don't act surprised. You knew it was coming.

6. The Time Traveler's Wife

Seriously, if you don't like this movie then something is wrong with you. Even if you hate the movie there's still Eric Bana. Enough said?

7. P.S. I love you.
Be warned, if you haven't seen this movie you will need lots - and i mean LOTS of tissues.

"So now, all alone or not, you gotta walk ahead. Thing to remember is if we're all alone, then we're all together in that too."

After listing all of them I have the sudden urge to watch them all over again!

Ah! L'amour!

Love! Love! Love! It’s everywhere!! Especially now, that valentine’s day is coming! Let’s think for a minute…

What is love? According to the Oxford dictionary, “Love” is  depicted as ‘a strong feeling of affection’, but for you, what is the real love? Some people go through life and never fall in love; not even once. For some, at least those fortunate enough, fall for someone and they become the “one” for the rest of their lives.

There are many love stories around the world that could be called “epic” because of their power, but in my opinion, it isn't the time that you spent in relationship that will say whether your love story was epic or not, but rather the intensity that you lived it. It’s the power of “faith” that you put on it and how much you want it.

How many times can we fall in love for someone? How many soul-mates do we have during our entire life time? Is there only one? The concept of ‘soul made’ is a challenge for me. I once read, “Soul mate: two little words, one big concept. A belief that someone, somewhere, is holding the key to your heart.” Do you believe that? What make someone your soul-mate? The similarity or the differences? I remembered that specific episode from Sex and the City, where Carrie says: “Maybe our girlfriends are our soul-mates, and guys are just people to have fun with.” Maybe it’s true!

Why are there so many people, and I mean NICE PEOPLE, single nowadays? I think the reason why is because we’re too choosy with us and people around us. We want someone hot, nice, intelligent,with a good chat, rich,…Wait! Did you notice it? WE ONLY WANT WHAT IS CONSIDERED PERFECT! C’mon, guys! Girls dream with the “prince charming”  idea their whole lives, and because of that they don’t even notice when the other guys, that wouldn't be considered perfect or “the prince”, could be perfect for them. And they're staring you right in the face! Girl, maybe you just saw the love of your life and you just let slip! Wake up!

 Being single doesn't mean that nobody wanted you. It means that you have to open your eyes! So, Stop looking for someone who is perfect for the rest of the world. Start looking for someone who is perfect for YOU! But I have to warn you: don’t take anybody just because you don’t wanna be alone. NO! You deserve only the best. Only that one who will make your heart start beating faster!

On Valentine’s Day or in every regular day, we’re looking for only thing: “Love! Real love, ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can’t-live-without-each-other-love!” Maybe love from your mom, or your friend, a guy, a girl, or from a dog, it doesn't matter. Live to love.

 And don’t forget, please: The first love of your life must be you!!

Dreams: Allow yourself to live

Hi, beautiful people!!

       Our talk today is about dreams! What do you dream about? What is your biggest desire?
Have you ever stopped to think about what you really want? 
     Sometimes we let people live their own dreams above ours and we don't even know why! Fear? Weakness? Maybe we Don't want to disappoint those welove? I could stay here the entire day enumerating milions of reasons why should not have to fight for something, but no, i'm here to encourage you,me, my friend and the whole world that we MUST fight for everything we want.  Many people are so lost that they don't even know what is it that they want to do! There's so much pressure placed on us by society and family to be perfect which makes things hard to deal with.

    Do you Want to buy a dog? Travel around the world? Drop out of college? Or maybe work on a circus as trapeze artist? It doesn't matter! Do it if it is your dream. People will try to dissuade you and say that your dreams are too small, too far fetched or evensilly; but don't listen to them, forget them! You only live once, then, be happy as much as you can. Be brave and fight for your dreams and beliefs.
